1979-1980 | Glass ‘Nebula’ Series
“A concept that I have been working on for a number of years involves the encasing of carefully made wire cones, inside of glass. I call the resulting pieces ‘spheres,’ even though they take on a variety of shapes. The process is very controllable with an exceptional improvisational range and, to me, is a form of visual jazz.
“Cells connecting cells connecting cells — pulsating micro-thin membranes — combine with glazed wire forms and unique color relationships in a first-time glass experience! Like totems from the culture of another planet, they are new and unfamiliar, yet seductively beautiful.” –D.A.S.
